Get yourself a pole!

Always warm up and cool down to minimize injury and strain. You are going to be using new and rarely used muscles so prepare your body by doing some simple warm up exercises.

Shave your legs.
You will need bare legs to grip the pole – and the smoother the better.

Wear trainers to practice in until you feel more confident with some of the movesThen you can advance to wearing stripper shoes.
Stripper shoes (wide synthetic platforms) or PVC boots will help you climb the pole.

Choose the right music.
You need tunes that will make you feel sexy and also make you want to get up and dance.

Practice in front of a mirror to check your posture and pose.

Practice with a friend
Its great fun. You can share tips and techniques and music tracks – your pole or mine!

Tips on Avoiding bruising.

Unfortunately learning to pole dance will involve some bruising.
In the early days as you throw yourself round the pole you will bruise your skin. But the more you practice the less you will get. Your body will become more supple and more resilient in the areas that have the maximum contact with the pole.

The best way to avoid bruising is to study each move carefully befr oe attempting it.

Try to alternate different moves . repeating the same move is likely to annoy certain areas of the skin.
